Dance of the Woodpeckers was inspired by the sight of two of these lovely birds darting around a churchyard in Wandsworth of all places! Spotting two at once was a real treat as they can be so shy. A snapshot in oils of their stunning black plumage and pop of red in the tails as they give chase in this vibrant garden. The stylized natural forms and bold colour palette gives this wildlife scene a contemporary edge.
